We have followed what seems to be the standard Credit & Buy Policy with most bookstores.
--Books need to be in gently used good condition; with all their pages intact; with no odour from animals; clean pages (so no chocolate for example); no highlighting; and no ex-library books.
--We offer 25% of the Retail Price in Credit, and can be used at anytime to purchase other gently used books, not just the day books are brought in. We keep track of your credit for you and can be used, with your permission, by other family members or friends.
--When using your credit to purchase other gently used books, we ask that you pay 1/2 with your credit and 1/2 with cash (or debit, visa or mastercard) plus tax--this ensures that we remain a business and not a library. (We do have to keep the lights on by paying the bills.)
--Credit can be used towards purchasing other GENTLY USED BOOKS ONLY-CREDIT CAN NOT BE USED FOR NEW BOOKS OR FOR SOME BOOKS ON CONSIGNMENT; or other items we sell such as maps and bookmarks.
BUYING:--We do buy some books and offer 10% of the Retail Price but LIMIT the amount that we purchase due to space, quality and current inventory.
--Because Hardcovered Books DO NOT sell as well as paper backs or the Trade Paper backs we only take a few--the newer releases of popular authors.
PLEASE NOTE: BASED ON OUR INVENTORY NEEDS AT THE TIME WE MAY NOT ALWAYS BE ABLE TO BUY OR GIVE CREDIT FOR BOOKS SO WE APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE.
As we are not able to take all the books brought in we ask that you take your books back with you--you can donate them to the thrift stores; Friends of the Library Sale; SPCA, etc or the books can be recycled at the Local Garbage Refuge Site--hardcovers in the blue bins and paperbacks in the green bins.
Note: If closing out credit accounts-you will receive 10 % of what is left on your credit amount; and if we do not see you after 7 years then your credit account will be gone.
--Please ask for any further explanations.
